Overnight Backpack to Bean Creek Basin
Teanaway Area, Wenatchee National Forest
5 miles roundtrip, 2000′ elevation gain
July 2-3, 2017
After getting sick a few days prior, I was itching to get back out into the wilderness. Maggie and I made it out to one of my favorite areas, the Teanaway, for a quick overnight backpack up to Bean Creek Basin. We got a late start around 3 pm and reached camp in the basin at 4:45. Even though it was only 2.5 miles up, it gains 2000′ so it is a fairly steep trail. The basin was gorgeous and there was a cool contrast between the colors of the plants and flowers and the brown of the rock in the area. We did not see any large wildlife while we were there, but saw and heard many birds. It was also uncrowded for being such a short hike only 2 hours away from Seattle. There were only two other groups camping in the area. We hiked out quickly the next morning and headed back to Seattle.
